We had tons of action going on around the Triad as several school districts welcomed back students Monday morning for the first day of school.

Greensboro police tweeted out a reminder to be careful of school buses as they return to the roads.

Even the SROs got in on the action, creating their own back-to-school flow.

WFMY News 2 Digital Reporter Laura Brache was at Sumner Elementary School in Greensboro where some North Carolina A&T athletes were on hand to greet kids!

Easton Elementary School in Winston-Salem even had a live DJ! WFMY News 2's Alma McCarty met with Principal Colin Tribby who says starting the year off right is top priority. He made sure every kid got a personal greeting in the form of a high-five. Faculty and staff made sure everyone found the right classroom, and met their teachers for the first time. But don't forget about arguably the most important person at Easton: Reginald Clowney, the custodian. He's been in his position for 30 years, and loves getting up early and opening the school everyday!

WFMY News 2's Janson Silvers was at Brightwood Elementary in Greensboro, and said the kids were just so excited to be back. Some were excited to see their friends, others just to get back to learning. Plus, the faculty and staff were just as excited. He spoke with parents, volunteers, the principal, and of course those great kiddos!

Before one student even stepped in the doors he said "it's been a great day at school!"
