SURRY COUNTY, NC (WFMY) - Seven people were arrested in Surry County this month during a series of traffic stops that yielded thousands of dollars in drugs.
On an Aug. 2 traffic stop in Siloam, detectives found 234 grams of marijuana with a street value of $2,340 in a car not displaying a tag. They also found digital scales, a gun and $1,540 in currency. Taylor Seigler, 24, of Dobson was arrested and received a $15,000 secured bond.
On Aug. 13, the Surry County Sheriff's Office and the Mt. Airy Police Department found trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and heroin while conducting three separate traffic stops in Pilot Mountain.
As part of the first traffic stop, officers seized:
- 30 grams of Methamphetamine with a street value of $3,000
- Two Amphetamine pills with a street value of $60
- Five Alprazolam pills with a street value $25
- Eight Adderall pills with a street value $80
- A small amount of marijuana
- Digital scales and baggies
- A handgun with an altered serial number
- $948 currency
Chante Taylor Jr., 24, was arrested as a result of that stop. Sheriff Combs said Taylor had two children in the vehicle at the time. Officers called the Surry County Department of Social Services and the children were released to family.
At a second traffic stop, officers seized small amounts of Methamphetamine, Heroin, Suboxone and Drug Paraphernalia. Justin Joyce, 30, Leticia Lorenza, 24, and Madison Combs, 21, were all arrested.
$1,200 (six grams) worth of heroin, $400 (four grams) worth of methamphetamine, an Oxycodone pill and drug paraphernalia were found at the third stop. William Flippin, 29, and Brittany Reed, 29, both of Dobson, were arrested.
