THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A fire at a home in Thomasville displaced eight people.

The Thomasville Fire Department said they responded to a home on the 700 block of Rosedale Drive around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The fire went through the roof and around the chimney.

Thomasville Fire said the homeowner noticed the fire and tried to put it out with a garden hose but was not able to and then called 911.

The fire gutted around half of the attic leaving the home uninhabitable at the moment.

Thomasville Fire said all four stations responded.

They were able to get the fire under control in 30 minutes.

One firefighter had a minor back injury from the fire and was sent to Thomasville Medical and released Saturday morning, according to fire officials.

After investigation, it was discovered that the cause of the fire was related to the chimney.
