They're supposed to be a symbol of faith, but now police say religious rosary beads are being used as a gang symbol.School resource officers in Forsyth County first found out about the beads when some students brought it to their attention. "We've been told by gang members and affiliates that they'll take the Catholic rosary beads and they'll change the configuration of the beads, change the color of the beads," Sheriff Bill Schatzman said.This misrepresentation of the rosary has many Catholics outraged.One priest told us he's disgusted that a symbol of love is now being used for hate.
