ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Rockingham County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Rodney Shotwell will continue serving as the district’s leader through June of 2022.
Shotwell sued the school district last year after the board fired him during Christmas break in December.
The board only said it was going in a new direction and gave no other reason for Shotwell's firing.
In March, a judge ruled Shotwell could keep his job while the case moves through the federal court system. Since then, both sides have submitted arguments, claims, and motions to the court.
We reached out to Shotwell Monday night during a board meeting to get an update on the status of his case.
"There are motions in the federal court system. However, I have not heard anything from the courts with any changes," Shotwell told WFMY News 2.
A judge has yet to make a final ruling in the case.
