WENTWORTH, NC (WFMY) - A pastor and school principal in Rockingham County was arrested Wednesday night for child sex offenses.
Kevin Scott Heffner, the pastor of Victory Baptist Church and principal of Victory Baptist Academy, was charged with 12 counts of Disseminating Obscene Materials to a Minor and two counts of Statutory Sex Offense.
WFMY News 2 has obtained warrants that say Heffner sent pictures of his genitalia to a juvenile female and also engaged in a sex act with a juvenile 15 or younger.
The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office says they started investigating Heffner within the last month. The church operates the academy, both of which are in Ruffin.
Heffner, 48, was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 secured bond.
The school at the church was closed Thursday after the arrest. It's a private school and it's not clear when it will open back up.
Heffner has a Sept. 9 court date.
