WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Due to road paving operations, there will be many lane closures on Business 40 on the east side of Winston-Salem through next week.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the operation will take place between Hastings Hill Road and South Main Street.
For those who wish to avoid the section of the highway where closures will be in place, you can use N.C. 66, Interstate 40 and U.S. 52 as alternative routes.
The very first closure will be a lane on the eastbound side from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.
Remaining closures are as follows:
- An eastbound lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. This will allow the contractor to remove portable concrete barrier wall.
- An eastbound lane, from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 until 5 a.m. the following morning, for pavement marking.
- An eastbound lane, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, to repair concrete slab.
- A westbound lane, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, for additional concrete slab repair.
Schedules could change as work is weather dependent.
Drives are encouraged to slow down when driving through work zones and to be on the lookout for signage indicating one-lane traffic patterns.
