Revolution Mill is prepared for substantial rainfall

Revolution Mill is no stranger to flood waters, and people there said they are prepared for anything.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — We’ve seen it time and time again over at Revolution Mill.

When there's heavy rain, Buffalo Creek tends to flood.

But because of this, preparations are taken ahead of time to make sure no one is severely impacted.

People who live and work at the Mill said they are crossing their fingers Tropical Storm Debby doesn't impact them too much, but they're used to it.

"I just hope it's not too bad, but it's mother nature. It is what it is, you know. They sent out warnings to let you know to move your car because it can get free pretty bad," said Wayne Akins, resident at the Mill.

Someone else who lives in the apartment complex said they live on the second floor, but mainly hope the waters don't rise too high.

Natalie Mishra said, "The biggest thing is going to be making sure the puppies have a place to go to the bathroom during the water."

Revolution Mill maintenance staff have been going around all day Wednesday making sure residents and business owners are prepared.

Blake Cummings works for the Mill and said, "We actually have flood panels that we put up in doorways that waterproof the building, and able to keep the water from coming in. We let all of our residents and tenants know, don't park in this area for the next 48 hours unless you want a submarine."

Grapes and Grains just opened at the Mill. They are preparing for their first weather event as a new business.

Rusty Collins co-owns Grapes and Grains.

He said, "Here there are aluminum panels with rubber gasses on the bottom and they stack on on top of each other if the water was to come up."

It seems though, that residents and business owners alike aren’t necessarily worried about the potential of flooding in the area but more so prepared -- and ready for anything.

Amy Pagano co-owns Grapes and Grains.

She explained, "We chained the barrels to the building and of course, Revolution Mill is a fortress, so it's very strong. We do have these flood panels that kind of keep Grapes and Grains safe."
