Man used social media to meet up with multiple children, Burlington police say

Burlington police began their investigation after getting a report from a concerned parent, who said they thought their child had met up with Joshua Tapp.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police charged a man with several sex offenses after they said he used social media to meet up with multiple children. 

Police said Special Victims Unit detectives got a report from a concerned parent on May 8. The parent believed their child had interactions with an older adult. 

Detectives investigated and learned that 34-year-old Joshua Tapp, from Roxboro, used social media to communicate and meet up with multiple children. 

Tapp is a registered sex offender. 

Detectives arrested him on May 22 and charged him with four counts of indecent liberties with children, two counts of solicitation of child by computer, one count of statutory sex offense with a child under 15, and one count of crime against nature. 

Tapp is in Alamance County Jail under no bond. 

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim to please come forward. The number to call is 336-229-3500.
