79 beauty schools closed its doors across the country, including 3 locations in North Carolina.
The Regency Beauty Institute announced on it's website they closed on Wednesday.
According to their website they closed because they do not have the cash to continue to run the business. They say, "declining numbers of cosmetology students nationwide, a negative characterization of for-profit education by regulators and politicians that continues to worsen and, in light of these factors, an inability to obtain continued financing."
Regency has three North Carolina locations in Winston-Salem, Charlotte, and Durham.
The beauty institute does say that other schools have reached out to them to complete "teach out" agreements. They will accept Regency students.
