Winston-Salem, NC -- A bouncer at the Red Rooster club was arrested Friday. He faces one charge for firing the gun last Friday and another for having the gun in his possession.Deputies say Joseph Hensley fired a shot into the air outside the club last Friday morning.Witnesses told WFMY News 2 they thought he was trying to break up a fight. Moments later, someone shot Winston-Salem police officer Howard Plouff in the face. He died Friday night.Deputies say Hensley is a convicted felon from a stolen goods case 11 years ago. He was not supposed to have a gun.Hensley's boss at the Red Rooster, owner Mark Jacobs, says, "I'm in full support of him, absolutely."Jacobs rented his club to a private promoter last Thursday night. Ricky Mitchell of Live Entertainment declined to be interviewed on camera, but says he took all precautions to ensure safety.He says the off-duty deputies outside were responsible for security in the parking lot, the site of the shooting.
