PATRICK COUNTY, Va. — Firefighters are battling a wildfire in Patrick County, VA, according to fire officials.
Emergency crews are working to create fire containment lines to protect against the loss of life, property, and structures.
Officials said the fire is currently 10% contained.
Everyone in this area is asked to avoid and beware of increased emergency vehicle traffic.
Patrick, Henry, Floyd, Surry, and Carroll Counties along with the Virginia Department of Forestry and Virginia Department of Emergency Management are working to control the wildfire.
A county-wide burn ban is in effect and will remain in effect until further notice.
The Ravens Den, Tuggles Gap, and Blue Ridge Parkway area of Woolwine have been notified as areas of concern, according to fire officials. If the situation changes, emergency personnel will notify the public.
Fire crews said emergency personnel will remain on the scene, patrolling the area overnight and into Tuesday morning.
