RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — The remains of a missing King, NC man were found Monday in Randolph County, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies confirmed the remains were those of Jonathan "Michael" Holmes, who went missing on April 13.
Randolph County deputies said they responded to Interstate 74, in the area of the Cedar Square exit, between mile marker 83 and 85, on a report of a missing person before 9:30 p.m. on that day.
Witnesses told deputies they saw Holmes acting abnormally. The witnesses said they stopped the car near the Cedar Square exit, and Holmes got out of the car with a gun. Holmes was last seen near the area of I-74 and the Cedar Square exit.
Deputies have searched for him since then but they did a final push to find him over the weekend using drones. They found Holmes' remains on Monday.
His remains have been sent to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of autopsy.
