ASHEBORO, N.C. — Randolph Community College is partnering with the Asheboro City and Randolph County school systems to expand industry-focused training programs for students. These programs are called Career Academies.

“These partnerships are a game-changer for our community,” RCC President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “By aligning education with industry needs, we are not just preparing students for the future; we are actively shaping it.”

Academies were added to each of the seven county high schools this fall in Randolph County.

After completing the academy certifications, students will have the chance to participate in RCC’s graduation ceremony which often takes place before they graduate from high school.

“I am grateful to these local high schools for their partnership in creating these Career Academies,” RCC Associate Dean of Educational Partnerships & Pathways Misty West said. “Both school districts have gone above and beyond to remove financial barriers for students. The High School Career Coaches are there to walk them through the process from application to graduation.”

Students can begin taking classes in their junior and senior years. Their tuition will be waived through RCC’s Career and College Promise Program and each academy student will receive an on-site advisor from RCC who is at their high school two days a week.

Bus transportation and textbooks will be provided by Asheboro City Schools for students, and the Randolph County School System plans to have several academies with online course offerings.
