WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Quarry Park will be closed starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. due to a police investigation involving a missing 19-year-old.
This will be the second search conducted at the park due to it being the last known location for Kaedian Allen.
Allen has been missing since Friday, May 31, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. He was a passenger in a car where the driver had tried to flee from police.
The driver was later arrested at Quarry Park, but Allen was not found despite using a drone with thermal capabilities, camera surveillance footage, and a perimeter search.
"They combed the banks of the quarry, they were unable to locate anything," WSFD Assistant Chief Andrew Gray said, "Emergency management had Blues Creek respond out with their sonar technology that did not produce anything."
On Sunday, June 2, police were notified by Allen's family that he had not returned home.
"He has not had contact with anybody, which is why we are seeking help from the media and community," WSPD Captain Charles Olivio.
Officers returned to Quarry Park and searched the area again with a bloodhound. They also deployed a drone, searched all local hospitals, and requested the Winston-Salem Fire Department's (WSFD) help to conduct a water search.
On Monday, June 3, officers worked alongside WSFD Heavy Rescue and the High Point Dive Team to search the quarry by boat and used a submersible drone. They still could not find Allen.
Allen is described as having dreadlocks and braces. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was last seen in the area of 1790 Quarry Road with an unknown direction of travel.
He was last seen wearing a black over-red Nike jacket, dark pants and slides.
Police are not seeking charges regarding the May 31 incident.
Anyone with information regarding Allen's location is encouraged to contact WSPD's non-emergency line at 336-773-7700.
