1 person in custody after potential bomb threat in Winston-Salem, police say

Winston-Salem police are on the scene with fire crews.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police officers are on the scene of a reported bomb threat at a home Tuesday. 

At 12:06 p.m., officers received a report about a bomb threat on the 1600 Block of Preston Woods Drive. They said they also received information suggesting the threat could be credible.

After an assessment and as a precaution, officers let neighbors in the area know about the report and were given the option to evacuate.

Crisis Negotiators and the SWAT Team communicated with the individual inside the home.

One person was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

No one was injured in this incident.

Police said no one else was inside the home and no explosive materials were found.

The Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Hazardous Devices Unit (HDU), Drone Team, the Winston-Salem Fire Department (WSFD), the Winston-Salem Fire Department Hazmat Team, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Behavioral Evaluation and Response (BEAR) Team all responded to the incident.
