Police arrested a local school teacher at work Friday morning in connection to undercover drug deals.

Tolliver and Kurtis Hinton, 23, who shares her Pineburr Road address according toarrest warrants, both face charges in connection to selling cocaine Aug. 3 and Aug. 8.

"They presented those sales as cocaine, told them they were cocaine. They sold them to them for cocaine, however when they were later tested, they were fake drugs, they were not real drugs, but, still the same charge," said Cpt. Angela Tackett of the High Point Police Department. Hinton remained in jail Friday evening on a $2,500 bond.

Tolliver taught biology and anatomy at Ragsdale High School.

She worked at the school since 2002."Well,I think the whole Ragsdale staff is very saddened about the situation. Surprised," said Kathryn Rogers, principal of Ragsdale High School.

She said she had not received any complaints or concerns about alleged drug use in the past. "This came as a complete and a total surprise to us here," she said.

Neighborssaid they saw a lot of people come in and out of Tolliver and Hinton's house at all hours. Some say they even saw obvious drug deals take place. Hinton was arrested at the house in January, charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Another person, Sara Crawford, was arrested in June for possession of a controlled substance. In the last year, police were called to the house nearly a dozen times. Calls ranged from domestic disturbances to drugs. The alleged transactions that landed Hinton and Tolliver in jail Friday, did not happen at the school. Tolliver resigned Friday. Now the principal is looking for a permanent replacement just days before school begins.

"If that's not happened by Tuesday, our regular science teachers, our other science teachers, will assume those responsibilities until a permanent person is found," Rogers said.

Chris Tolliver, who said he is Cecelia Tolliver's brother, said his sister is a victim. He declined to comment any further.
