Pfafftown Woman Spends $5 and Wins $200,000 While Grocery Shopping

She bought a $5 scratch-off ticket while shopping at Harris Teeter. It turned out to be a top prize of $200,000.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Pfafftown woman decided to buy a $5 scratch-off ticket while getting her grocery shopping done.

And it paid off - BIG.

Kimberly Ayers won a top prize of $200,000 playing the new $500 Loaded game.

She bought the lucky ticket at the Harris Teeter on Robinhood Village Drive in Winston-Salem, and scratched it when she got in her car.

When the very first number revealed the top prize of $200,000, she couldn't believe it.

“I was absolutely shocked,” Ayers said. “I had to clear my eyes to make sure it was real.”

She says she plans to use the money to pay off her bills.

After state and federal taxes, Ayers took home over $141,000.

Four more top prizes of $200,000 are still out there.
