SALISBURY, N.C. — A Confederate monument in downtown Salisbury was vandalized for the second time in seven months.

A report from WBTV includes pictures of white paint that appeared to be splashed onto the statue. Paint also landed on the base of the statue and the street. The monument, named 'Fame,' sits in the middle of W. Innes Street between the Salisbury Post and St. John's Lutheran Church. It depicts a Confederate soldier and what many interpret as an angel.

The monument was last splashed with paint in August. In September 2017, an organization, Salisbury Indivisible, sent a letter to city officials requesting the statue be taken down.

Last week, a similar monument in Winston-Salem was moved from a downtown location.
