Car Crashes into Pole Causing Power Outage South of Downtown Greensboro

At one point, over 1,000 customers were without power.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Power has been restored for most people just south of downtown Greensboro.

The lights went out for over 1,000 Duke Energy customers Friday afternoon after a car crashed into a utility pole in the 800 block of South Elm Eugene Street near Gate City Blvd.

Police say the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Duke Energy's outage map shows less than 40 customers without power now, with a restoration time around 11:00 p.m.
