ARCHDALE, N.C. — Her family was trying to convince Janie Hunt to get a security system. It took some time, but she eventually acquiesced and hired a company to install cameras around the house.
“My children were really pushing me to get a security system,” Hunt said.
The company she hired came to the house and started to install the cameras and system. While one of the contractors was outside running cable she heard a loud bang.
“Somewhere around 11 p.m. one of them fell through my carport ceiling,” Hunt said.
That was just the beginning of a bad situation according to Hunt.
“They told me they called the manager and told me not to worry about it be taken care of in a couple of days,” Hunt said.
A few days went by and then a week, the carport was still not fixed, and Hunt also noticed issues with the system in general.
“One of the doorbell sensors is not covered on the camera and I don’t know why,” Hunt said.
There were several parts of the house hidden from the cameras, and the giant hole in the carport ceiling was still not fixed.
It was about then that Hunt decided to call WFMY News 2 for help.
We contacted the security company, and a contractor was sent out a few days later to repair the damage.
Hunt said the system itself was often glitching and sometimes it didn’t alert her to people coming up to the front porch.
The company did send a tech out, but the system was not working to the level Hunt expected. She eventually asked for a full refund. We also had a conversation with the security company about the problems Hunt was experiencing.
This took a bit longer to work through, but the company eventually agreed to refund Hunt’s money and remove the cameras and system.
“I certainly called the right people, you’re an angel from the lord and I certainly appreciate it,” Hunt said.
