The North Carolina Association of Educators confirms to WFMY News 2 they are in the planning stages of another march on Raleigh later this year.
Educators are planning to rally in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 1, which is a scheduled day of classes.
Their reasons for marching are similar to last year's march, but there are different demands.
The five things educators will be marching for are:
1. Hiring more school social workers, counselors, nurses, and psychologists.
2. Expanding Medicaid.
3. $15 minimum wage for all workers in schools. 5% raise for educators and retirees.
4. Reinstating Master's and advanced degree pay.
5. Making sure the retirement package stays the same for educators joining the field after 2021.
