LIBERTY, N.C. — More jobs are coming to Liberty, NC as a result of the Toyota Battery plant.
Randolph County Economic Development Corporation said Fujihatsu & Toyota Battery Components (FTBC) will bring 133 jobs to a facility in Liberty over the next five years.
The FTBC facility will support the Toyota Battery Manufacturing plant, also in Liberty.
FTBC is a joint venture with Toyota Tsusho America. The FTBC site will make aluminum cell cases and covers for car batteries.
The facility is set to be completed in 2024, with mass production starting in 2025.
Randolph County leaders say FTBC's investment is expected to exceed $60 million over the next five years.
The Toyota Battery plant will employ 5,000 people. Company leaders say they're on track to start producing batteries at the mega-site in early 2025.
