What made the DMV temporarily halt their services across North Carolina? It's actually quite simple.

On Wednesday, NCDIT noticed sporadic connection issues with DMV services. Today, they temporarily isolated and fixed these problems causing some disruption.

This was from around 3 this afternoon, where wait times peaked at 6 hours in some locations.

But i want everyone to take a breath because there is nothing nefarious about these issues. D-m-v services was merely experiencing connection issues.

Have you ever had timeout issues with your own connection on your personal computer? Well, sometimes you gotta troubleshoot the issue.

"You're troubleshooting but you're eliminating. So you're eliminating issues, right? So, ok, well, you know, it's not this, ok, then let's try this, um, until you do get to what's caused. Now, when you're looking at the state's network connections, that's obviously much bigger and more robust than what you have at home, which means there's more equipment to check," said Nicole Meister from North Carolina's Department of Information Technology

NCDIT noticed a sporadic connection issue yesterday arising in various state agencies, the number one being the NCDMV. Today they went about identifying and fixing this headache of an issue.

Although one thing is for certain...

"This is completely out of DMV's control... They are working hard to serve customers and so anytime there's an impact like this, and they have nothing to do with it and cannot control it. It is just something happening with the technology and everybody involved is working as hard and fast as they can to resolve it."

At the time of writing, operations are back up and running for DMV services. In-person transactions at these offices across the state resumed this afternoon.
