NC A&T receives $20 million anonymous donation

NC A&T said $15 million of the donation will go toward scholarships.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T State University announced Monday it has received a massive donation - $20 million from an anonymous donor.

“We are deeply honored and grateful for this extraordinary gift,” Kenneth E. Sigmon Jr., vice chancellor of University Advancement said. “This generous support will provide crucial resources to our students, faculty and programs, ensuring that N.C. A&T continues to thrive as a leading institution for higher learning and innovation.”

The nation's largest HBCU said it will put the $20 million toward four initiatives:

  • $15 million to scholarships
  • $2 million to establish endowed professorships in artificial intelligence
  • $2 million to international opportunities
  • $1 million to promote opportunities for campus communities to interact with current thought leaders through the ongoing Chancellor's Speaker Series

NC A&T said the funding was based on the university's strategic plan, which it is calling the 'Blueprint,' to achieve a higher level of distinction and "preeminence" by 2030.
