ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A state trooper was involved in a crash on I-40 early Tuesday morning in Alamance County, according to troopers.
Just after 7 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on I-40 near exit 148.
Trooper Davis was traveling east on I-40 near NC-54 in a marked patrol car when he noticed debris that had been deposited onto the road causing a traffic hazard.
He activated his emergency equipment and pulled onto the left shoulder of I-40 against the concrete median barrier.
Keaziah Jahnae Pittman, 18, was driving east on I-40 operating a 2012 Honda Accord.
Catherine Anne Temple, 39, was also driving east in a 2020 Toyota RAV 4 SUV.
Pittman braked suddenly to avoid the debris, driving outside of her lane to the right and hit Temple. Temple lost control of her car during the collision, driving left across the interstate, overturned, and hit the back of the patrol car that was stopped on the left shoulder.
Trooper Davis, Pittman, and Temple all suffered minor injuries and were evaluated on-scene but not taken to the hospital.
Investigators charged Pittman with failure to maintain lane control.
