GUILFORD COUNTY, NC (WFMY) - The state health department has extended the deadline for K-12 students to get health vaccinations and complete health assessments until November 1.
“This will facilitate additional time for families to meet the immunization requirements due to potential barriers resulting from Hurricane Florence,” a memo from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services read.
The previous deadline was Sept. 25. Guilford County Schools says 217 seventh-graders, or about 4 percent, did not have the Tdap vaccine, and 245 seventh-graders, also about 4 percent, did not have the Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine as of Wednesday.
You can find out more about the vaccination requirements on the GCS website.
