NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Airports across the state are reporting a rise in flight delays and cancellations ahead of Tropical Storm Debby's arrival.
As of 2 p.m., Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) has more than 120 flight delays. 25 of its other scheduled flights have been canceled, according to FlightAware.
The Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) reported two flight cancelations and four delays so far on their website. Both the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport have used social media to alert customers of flight changes caused by Debby.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport said it canceled eight flights and delayed 20 on their flight update website.
Debby made landfall on Monday along the Big Bend in Florida. It could possibly make landfall a second time along the Carolina coast on Thursday as a hurricane.
While Georgia and South Carolina were said to get the worst of Debby, a state of emergency was issued for North Carolina on Monday.
Residents are warned to avoid unnecessary travel.
