Moped driver dies after hit-and-run in Greensboro

Police said they responded to East Wendover Avenue at North English Street.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is dead after a hit-and-run in Greensboro.

Greensboro police said they responded to East Wendover Avenue at North English Street in response to a hit-and-run Wednesday around 11 p.m.

Officers said a moped operated by Douglas Anderson, 56, of Greensboro, was traveling south on North English Street and entered the intersection at East Wendover Avenue.

Then, a dark-colored SUV traveling north on North English Street made a left turn onto East Wendover Avenue.

Police said the vehicles collided within the intersection, the SUV then drove away heading west on East Wendover Avenue.

Officers said Anderson was taken to a hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police said the vehicle that left the scene was described as a newer model Dodge Durango, with possible passenger-side damage.

The investigation is ongoing.
