GREENSBORO, N.C. — A beloved Greensboro pastor has died.

On July 19, Monsignor Anthony J. Marcaccio of St. Pius X Catholic Church died after complications arose from a surgery meant to treat his cancer. He was 61.

Marcaccio had been with his parish for 24 years.

"All who knew him are impacted by this news and left with deep feelings of loss and sadness," wrote Bishop Michael T. Martin in a newsletter. "He was a man of faith and while a lover of life, he was more a lover of Christ and the life to come."

Funeral arrangements for Marcaccio have not been announced at the time of reporting.
