Winston-Salem woman reported missing, considered 'high risk,' police say

Police say Ms. Deborah Edwards has a cognitive impairment, making this an urgent case to find her.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking the community to help locate 70-year-old Deborah Kay Edwards, who is considered high-risk due to possible cognitive impairment.

Ms. Edwards was last seen leaving her home on Gray Ave. in Winston-Salem, driving a gold Chrysler Town and Country minivan with North Carolina plates (RHJ7197). Police say she was headed to an unknown location, and her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Edwards is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, around 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. There is no description of what she was wearing when she left.

Police say Ms. Edwards meets the criteria for a Missing Endangered Alert, which applies when a missing person has cognitive impairments and is at high risk of neglect, harm, or exploitation. To qualify, they must be reported missing within 72 hours and show signs of vulnerability.

The police urge anyone who may have seen Ms. Edwards or has information about her location to come forward as soon as possible to assist in bringing her home safely.
