Mebane family reunites with cat missing for 18 months

It's a reunion that a Mebane family feared would never happen. However, on Thursday the family's beloved cat was finally returned home.

MEBANE, N.C. — It’s a reunion a Mebane family feared would never happen. However, on Thursday the Bell family rejoiced after they got to see their furry friend, Scout, for the first time in over a year.

In a Facebook post, Bobby Bell wrote, "Tears all around, kids are ecstatic!" Bell said when the 5-year-old feline was returned home he was a little banged up but he's already back to being as affectionate as ever.

Bell said their beloved cat had been missing for 18 months, and the family "assumed he was dead."

However, lucky for them, a Good Samaritan found Scout only three miles away from the Bell family home and took him to the Burlington Animal Services Center. From there, they were able to match Scout’s microchip with the Bell family.

The Bell family shared some photos with WFMY News 2 after they were reunited with Scout. Bobby said he wondered where Scout had been all this time, but he was just happy their furbaby was home.
