Medline, an Illinois-based medical supply company, has a plan in the works to open a new warehouse in Forsyth County.
A spokesperson from the company sent a statement to WFMY Friday morning:
“Medline has a long-standing history in North Carolina providing high quality medical supplies to healthcare providers across the continuum of care. We’ve built trusted partnerships with local hospitals, physicians, home health agencies and nursing homes.
As demand for Medline’s products and clinical solutions grows, we’ve outgrown our Charlotte distribution center so we plan to open an additional facility in the city of Wallburg in the area of the Union Cross Business Park in order to continue meeting our customers’ needs.
The 660,000-square foot warehouse distribution center will initially create 100 jobs for local residents, but could at maximum capacity employ 400 people.”
According to county documents, the property where the warehouse would go needs to be re-zoned. The Winston-Salem Forsyth County Planning Board has already reviewed and approved the plan. It's waiting on approval from County Commissioners.
The rezoning request is on the agenda for the Commissioners' January 24 meeting.
