MEBANE, N.C. — A man has been charged after police said he touched someone in the bathroom at a Walmart on Mebane Oaks Road in Mebane on Sept. 9.
Jeffrey Smith, 67, of Mebane, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. Arrest warrants said Smith grabbed another person's genitals by force without their consent and fled the scene where he was arrested in the woods behind a Sheetz.
Smith worked previously at the Mebane Presbyterian Church.
