GREENVILLE, NC - A man boarding a flight at the Pitt-Greenville airport was shot and killed Sunday morning.
WNCT reports Officers responded around 6 a.m. outside the main entrance to the airport terminal, where they found 52-year-old Joseph Pate of Beaufort County with a gunshot wound. Pate died at the airport.
John Reid, 49, of Grimesland, has been charged with First Degree Murder and is currently being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond.
Reid and Pate knew each other, according to police.
An 11 a.m. flight, departing out of Pitt-Greenville Airport was canceled out of caution. The airport is back open.
The shooting is still being investigated.
