FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A judge sentenced a man to 20-25 years in prison for the 2021 shooting death of a Lewisville woman.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill said the defendant, Jason Duncan, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a courtroom on July 9, 2024.

Investigators said he shot his girlfriend, Paula Booth, to death at a home on Lewisville Trails Road on March 17, 2021. They said at first, Duncan said his girlfriend committed suicide, but later admitted to killing her. An autopsy revealed she'd been shot twice and that the shooting was a homicide.

Detectives learned the couple had a heated argument before the shooting, and that Booth told her boyfriend multiple times that she wanted him out of the house due to his abusive behavior toward her.
