HIGH POINT, N.C. — UPDATE: Police said the victim died in the hospital on Monday. Police said no charges will be filed.
A man was hit by a car in High Point while checking on his own car after experiencing mechanical issues, police say.
High Point police and fire crews responded to a crash with injuries on Jamestown Parkway near N. Scientific Street just after 1 a.m. Friday.
The crash involved a 2013 Toyota Corolla and a 2006 Ford F150.
The investigation revealed that the F150 had a mechanical issue and was partially stopped in the eastbound lane. Timmy Brady, 57, got out of the F150 and was standing in the road. His car did not have any lights on, and the road had no street lighting.
While Brady was standing in the road, he and his truck was hit by the Toyota Corolla. He was taken to a nearby hospital with critical life-threatening injuries, police said.
This investigation is ongoing.
