Man dead after hit by multiple cars on I-40 East in Greensboro, police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is dead after he was hit by several cars on I-40 East in Greensboro.

Greensboro police said they responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on  I-40 East Saturday around 10:30 p.m.

Officers discovered a man was trying to cross the lanes of of I-40 East, just east of the on ramp from West Wendover Avenue, when he was hit by a Mercedes-Benz S560 traveling east on I-40.

Police said the man was then hit by multiple unknown cars.

Officers said the man died at the scene.

The man was identified as Michael Kenneth Zrinski, 62.

Police said no one in the Mercedes was injured.

Investigators said neither speed nor impairment are considered to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
