Madison town manager fired days after interim chief placed on leave

Interim Town Manager Amy Roberts confirmed that Kevin Braughn was terminated from his role.

MADISON, N.C. — Madison's Town Manager was terminated from the position just days after the interim chief was placed on leave, according to the Interim Town Manager Amy Roberts.

Kevin Baughn was let go from his position as town manager on Sept. 14 under the conditions of an 'at-will employment,' with no specific reason mandated for his termination, as relayed by Roberts.

The Madison Police Department is under investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

The SBI would not say why the department is under investigation or share any more details in an email because they "do not want to jeopardize the investigation."

Roberts doesn't believe this is connected to the SBI's investigation. No further information can be shared as it is a part of their investigation.
