MADISON, N.C. — The Madison Police Department is under investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
The SBI would not say why the department is under investigation or share any more details in an email because they "do not want to jeopardize the investigation."
Madison Police Chief Richard Hester said one of the department's captains was placed on paid leave pending an internal investigation on September 5. He could not speak to the nature of the suspension.
