ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Officials in Randolph County say schools in Asheboro were placed on lockdown for about an hour Thursday afternoon.
911 operators say a person was reportedly yelling at people on Church Street, about a half-mile from Asheboro High School. Officials said the person was yelling that he was armed with a gun, but police found out he was not. Police took that person in for further evaluation.
South Asheboro Middle School, Asheboro High School, and Asheboro City Schools central services office were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
