Family, friends and law enforcement officers from around the state gathered Friday to remember Trooper Samuel Bullard.
Trooper Samuel Bullard was from Wikes County but worked in the Surry County office. He died after crashing during a vehicle pursuit when a driver tried to avoid a checkpoint. The 24-year-old was a three year veteran of the NC State Highway Patrol.
The funeral was held at the Walker Center on the campus fo Wilkes Community College Friday. NCSHP's caisson transported the body to the Walker Center.
There was a constant line of officers and others during two and a half hours visitation which were held at the Walker Center on Wilkes Community College campus.
Trooper Bullard's funeral officially started at 1pm. His body arrived on the NC State Highway Patrol's caisson. Governor Roy Cooper was one of three speakers at the funeral.
A private graveside memorial service was held at Macedonia Baptist Church 1120 Austin Little Mountain Rd, Ronda,
