Here’s a list of beaches with lifeguard stations in North Carolina.

Traveling to the beach this summer? You want to make sure you family stays safe in the water. Here’s a list of beaches with lifeguard stations in North Carolina provided by visitnc.com.

You can also call a beach town ahead of time before your vacation to find out if lifeguards are available and if they're in close proximity to where you're staying.

According to the site, more than 6 million will travel to North Carolina beaches this year.

Currituck County Beaches
In the Corolla area lifeguard stations are staffed daily until Labor Day from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Duck
The town of Duck staffs lifeguard stations daily from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. from now until October 31.

Southern Shores
Southern Shores staffs lifeguard stations daily from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Drive and Chicahauk Trail through Labor Day weekend. Stations at East Dogwood Trail and 142 Ocean Blvd., from mid-June through mid- August.

Kitty Hawk
Kitty Hawk has lifeguard stands daily at Byrd Street, Eckner Street, and the Kitty Hawk Bath House access from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. through Labor Day.

Kill Devil Hills
Kill Devil Hills staffs about 20 lifeguard stands daily between Helga Street and Eighth Street from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. through Labor Day.

Nags Head
The town of Nags Head operates 10 lifeguard stations daily from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.

Cape Hatters National Seashore
There are three locations at Cape Hatters National Seashore staffed with lifeguards daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.
In the following areas:
• Coquina Beach (across from the Bodie Island Lighthouse).
• Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Beach (just north of the lighthouse).
• Ocracoke Day Use Beach (half a mile north of Ocracoke Village).

Atlantic Beach
Lifeguard stands daily from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Raleigh Avenue and Beaufort Avenue through Labor Day.

Emerald Isle
Lifeguards on duty daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through early September at Western and Eastern beach access points.

Wrightsville Beach
Wrightsville Beach has 13 lifeguard stands daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through Labor Day just south of Shell Island Resort to Albright Street.

Carolina Beach
Carolina Beach has 20 lifeguard stations along a three-mile stretch of beach. The stations are staffed Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:45 p.m.

Kure Beach
Kure Beach has 10 lifeguard stations that are staffed from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.mn. through Labor Day that covers the beach from north to south.
