NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — A man is dead after a crash in North Wilkesboro at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol reports.
The driver of a 2012 Tao-Tao scooter was driving north on Liberty Grove Road. Troopers said he entered the intersection during a red light and was hit by a 2020 Hino box truck traveling west on NC 268.
Kevin Scott Johnson, 60, the driver of the scooter, was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the box truck was not injured, troopers said.
Troopers said neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors to the crash. No charges will be filed in the case, troopers said.
