WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 65-year-old Lexington man is in the hospital after a driver hit him while he was riding his bike Monday night in Winston-Salem.
Robert Jordan was riding a bicycle on Reynolda Road just before 9:30 p.m. when the collision happened. The driver hit Jordan from behind and kept going, police say. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
His family says this is the second time he was the victim of a hit and run, just two weeks apart.
"March 11th he was hit on Reynolda Road, and then March 25th he was the victim of a hit and run on Reynolda Road as well," daughter Lana Jordan said.
But the most recent accident was much worse.
"The first one he flipped over the car and somehow miraculously he wasn’t injured enough to go to the hospital he just had external wounds," Lana said. "This time was a lot worse."
His injuries are extensive.

"He’s really beaten up," Lana said. "His foot is broken, his vertebrae are fractured, but mainly his head is really bloody and there’s a lot of internal bleeding and swelling."
Lana says he hasn't woken up yet.
"We don’t know the extent of the damages yet we don’t know when he’s going to wake up, we’re just waiting," Lana said. "He could wake up soon, he could wake up in a week, I don’t know."
Doctors say it's a waiting game. As his family rallies behind him at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, his dance family is sending love and prayers.
Robert Jordan has been an instructor at Vogler's Studio of Dance for 40 years.
"He’s excellent with the kids, the girls seem to love him," Chasity Jones said. Her daughter has been going to Vogler's for four years. She says everyone was upset when they heard the news.
"He laughs and jokes with the kids all the time, you can just tell that dance is his life."
They're just hoping he'll be able to move the same way he did.
"He’s absolutely fit," Jones said. "To be 65, he moves better than I do sometimes," she joked.
"It's frustrating that something like this could happen to someone so healthy," Lana said, adding he's an avid cyclist. He bikes from Lexington to Winston-Salem almost every day.
The southbound lanes of the 3600 block of Reynolda Road were closed for roughly 5 1/2 hours after he was hit on Monday. Police are still searching for the driver of the car. Officers are also investigating the March 11 hit and run.
"I really hope police find who did this because they need to be punished for this I hope they go to jail," daughter Lana said.
