Whitsett, NC -- Computer manufacturer, Lenovo, held the grand opening of its manufacturing facility in Whitsett on Wednesday, making it the first U.S. based manufacturing operation.

At the grand opening, Governor McCrory attended to tout new jobs created for North Carolina, adding up to 115 in all.

U.S. Senator Kay Hagan issued a statement about the facility's opening:

"Thanks to our state's first-class workforce, it's no surprise that a global company like Lenovo would choose North Carolina to open their first U.S. manufacturing facility. Jobs are my number one priority in the Senate. I am working every day to find commonsense, bipartisan solutions that will allow companies like Lenovo to continue putting North Carolinians back to work."

Lenovo, based in China, is the second largest PC maker in the world and bought IBM's PC business in 2005.

Production at the plant in Whitsett has been underway for about a year, and Wednesday marks the ribbon cutting for the facility.
