'Kindness Matters Contest' Awards Guilford County School Students Bikes For Winning Essays

Winners will be acknowledged during an assembly attended by parents, sponsors, school partners and members of the Guilford County School community.

GREENSBORO, NC (WFMY) -- The holiday season is in full effect!

Starting on Monday, several Guilford County School students will be gifted with a brand new bicycle and helmet all thanks to the Bikes for Kids Foundation and local sponsors.

Students that will receive the bikes participated in a 'Kindness Matters' writing contest using kindness prompts to compose their essays.

Winners will be acknowledged during an assembly attended by parents, sponsors, school partners and members of the Guilford County School community.

The Bikes for Kids Foundation works with school districts and local sponsors to provide bicycles and helmets to underrepresented students during the holiday season in order to help them develop pride, responsibility and a strong sense of community, as well as to encourage their academic, physical and social growth.

The Schools And Dates For The Giveaways Are:

• Fairview Elementary, 608 Fairview Street, High Point – Monday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m.

• Cone Elementary, 2501 North Church Street, Greensboro – Monday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m.

• Parkview Elementary, 325 Gordon Street, High Point – Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.

• Gillespie Park, 1900 Martine Luther King Jr. Drive, Greensboro – Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m.

• Bessemer Elementary, 918 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro – Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

• Falkener Elementary, 3931 Naco Road, Greensboro – Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m.
