CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris told supporters in North Carolina that the state will turn blue for the first time since 2008, pledging to fight for middle-class Americans.
With Election Day right around the corner, the Harris-Walz campaign is making a strong push through swing states. Harris assured thousands of supporters in North Carolina that "the election is for the taking."
"And make no mistake, we are going to win this thing," Harris said.
Harris laid out several policy plans, including restoring abortion rights for women, expanding public healthcare programs, and reducing the strain on families' wallets.
"I will give a middle-class tax cut to over 100 million Americans. I will pass the first-ever federal ban on corporate price-gouging on groceries and fight to make sure hardworking Americans can actually afford a place to live."
One way Harris plans to do that is by providing first-time homebuyers with a $25,000 down payment and offering a $6,000 tax credit for first-time parents. Her goal is to relieve Americans of financial burdens while boosting the economy.
"So North Carolina, today I ask you, are you ready to make your voices heard?"
In the latest FiveThirtyEight aggregate poll, Trump leads Harris slightly in North Carolina by one point. Both candidates have invested considerable time and money in the state, which could play a pivotal role in deciding who takes the White House.
