CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- He's accused of scheming people out of 900 million dollars. The jury selection for the Zeek Rewards case started Tuesday.

The accused master mind of Zeek Rewards, Paul Burks, is facing up to 65 years in prison plus a $1 million fine.

He operated out of Lexington and offered money to online investors who promoted Burks' Company or recruited others to join.

Burks' attorneys say he and his team didn't do anything illegal and that they struggled to manage the explosive growth of Zeek Rewards.
Two of his top assistants took plea deals and are expected to testify against him.

250-million dollars have been returned to about 107-thousand victims. The trial will be in Charlotte. Prosecutors said this is one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the U.S.
