'It's a Little Nerve Wracking' Bear Sightings In Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co. Continue

The bear was first reported Wednesday in Clemmons crossing Highway 421, then Lewisville-Clemmons Road before it was later seen in Winston-Salem.

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. – Have you seen a bear? Chances are you might if you live in Forsyth County.

There have been lots of sightings reported over the last three days of a black bear that was spotted in Clemmons and in the Winston-Salem area.

Thursday, Jeffery White captured video of the bear in the bowling alley on Jonestown Road he said in a post on his Facebook page.

The bear was first reported Wednesday in Clemmons crossing Highway 421, then Lewisville-Clemmons Road.

It was also spotted near Ronni's Restaurant and a tire business in the area.

Police in Winston-Salem warn against approaching the bear. On Thursday, it was spotted in the woods near US 421/140 Jonestown Road area.

On Friday, WFMY News 2 found the bear perched in a tree on Hampton Inn Court in Winston-Salem.

"It's a little nerve wracking having a bear in your backyard, but it's okay for now. She doesn't seem to be that much of a threat. She's sleep[ing] not bothering anybody," one witness said.

Winston-Salem Police also said NC Wildlife officials don’t typically relocate bears unless they become aggressive.
